Experience the wizarding Christmas you’ve seen on-screen brought to life, perfect for a spellbinding festive day out. Hogwarts in the Snow returns to the Studio Tour this winter, with original Harry Potter film sets dressed for the festive season. Uncover how filmmakers create snow that crunches under foot, frost that sparkles under studio lights and icicles that never melt.
The magic starts as soon as you enter the Great Hall, lit with the warm glow of floating candles. Feel like you’ve stepped straight into Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, with the authentic set decorated with towering Christmas trees, a festive feast and flaming puddings. Look out for Harry and Ron playing a game of Wizard Chess on one of the long tables.
Prepare to find Christmas surprises and filmmaking secrets around every corner. Discover the Gryffindor and Slytherin common rooms decorated with garlands, wreaths and Christmas cards, crafted by the crew during filming. At the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, practice the steps of the Yule Ball waltz, just as Neville Longbottom did.
Wander beneath frosted Forbidden Forest trees, peer into the icy windows on Diagon Alley and discover the breathtaking Hogwarts castle model, covered in a blanket of filmmaking snow. Keep your Omnioculars ready to search for the miniscule snowman hidden on the castle!
New for this year, we’ll be revealing the secrets behind festive sound effects in our Backlot Stage. Take your seat to discover how the magic of Christmas was brought to life through the art of Foley. Afterwards, grab a Butterbeer at the Butterbeer Bar and watch filmmaking snow settle over the Studio Tour Backlot.
