On 3rd December 2015, Harry Potter fans joined us at the Studio Tour for the greatly-anticipated ‘Dinner in the Great Hall’ event. Guests were greeted with welcome drinks and canapés, before taking a seat with fellow fans of the Harry Potter film series at tables in the iconic Great Hall set.
First featured in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the Great Hall was home to Hogwarts’ famous feasts and the setting for many other memorable scenes such as the Sorting Ceremony in the first film where Harry is placed in Gryffindor house and the arrival of the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The Great Hall was dressed for the occasion with the original props used in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, including Christmas trees, prop food and flaming Christmas puddings. After dinner, guests were able to see the Gryffindor common room, decorated for the festive season, and the Weasley’s kitchen at The Burrow, dressed as it was for winter scenes.
Guests tucked into the first two courses of a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings on the authentic Great Hall set and went on to enjoy a trio of desserts served on Platform 9 ¾, alongside the original Hogwarts Express. Making their way through the remainder of the tour, guests were able to sip on a cup of frothy Butterbeer in our backlot café before heading over to the grand finale of the event; the magnificent Hogwarts model sprinkled with filmmaking snow.
The evening concluded with music and dancing in the beautifully-transformed lobby, complete with a bar and professional DJ for all to enjoy.
